Traction drive

1.Research background

In recent years, rail transit has developed rapidly in China. The vehicle is the transportation carrier of the rail transit system and the key subsystem that the passengers can directly touch and feel. The performance of the vehicle reflects the advantages and disadvantages of the rail transit system to some extent. The traction drive system is a core part of the rail transit vehicle, which is aimed at meeting the demand of the traction and braking characteristics of vehicles through the control of the traction motor.

 

2.Research filed

The main research filed of traction drive group is traction inverter-motor control system, and the object of study includes induction motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors, linear motors and so on. On the one hand, we are making efforts to improve traditional solutions to enhance their control performance. On the other hand, we actively explore new ideas and methods. Research topics are related to advanced PWM algorithm, flux-weakening control, sensorless control, model predictive control, etc.; in addition, we also pay attention to prognostic and health management of traction drive system.

3.Personnel composition

At present, the group members include 2 PhD students and 2 master students.

4.Project experiences

Through cooperation with companies such as CRRC Corporation Limited, we have solved application problems in the industrial field (such as accomplished R&D of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Traction Drive Control System in Urban Rail Transit), accumulated project experience, achieved a close combination of theoretical research and engineering practice.

5.Ongoing projects

At present, we are mainly focusing on R&D of Sensorless Control Technology for Permanent Magnet Traction Motor, R&D of Pure Electric Braking Technology for Urban Rail Transit, and R&D of Linear induction motor control technology and so on.
